Rereading your notes feels productive, but it mostly builds familiarity, not memory. Why quizzing yourself beats rereading

Rereading creates a feeling of fluency: the material looks familiar, so it feels learned. But recognizing a fact on the page and retrieving it from memory under exam conditions are different skills. Every time you force yourself to answer a question without looking, you strengthen the retrieval pathway you'll actually need on test day — not just the recognition pathway rereading builds.

The problem with a flat list of questions

Most "notes to quiz" tools do one thing: chop your text into chunks and ask a question about each chunk.
